Lisa Lynn Brooks
Biography
Lisa Lynn Brooks, PhD (Choctaw) is teaching faculty and Co-Director of Native American & Indigenous Studies at Montclair State University. A former vice principal with over 20 years of experience in public education, she incorporates topics that span from educational activism to tribal sovereignty into her professional work. Her latest projects focus on promoting Indigenous-made curriculum and making Indigenous perspectives visible in public education. When she isn’t teaching pre-service educators at Montclair, she conducts oral histories for the Catholic Indian Schools Project in Oklahoma and writes curriculum for the Native American Exhibition at the Montclair Art Museum. Her past projects include writing curriculum for the Chilocco Indian Agricultural School project and assisting with the design of the graphic novel, Chilocco Indian School: A Generational Story.
