Mehtap Tosun

Biography

Mehtap Tosun worked as a research assistant at the Sociology Department of Middle East Technical University, where she also completed her MA and PhD. During her PhD, she was a visiting researcher at the Department of Turkish Studies at Leiden University in the Netherlands for 1 year. Since 2022, she has been working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ruhr University, Germany and conducting her research with the team of the Marie Jahoda Centre for International Gender Studies (MaJaC). Her research interests include: social memory studies, gender, state violence, political and collective violence, ethnicity and identity politics, modernisation and industrialisation, labour history and sociology of work. She has conducted research and projects in these fields and has published articles in various academic journals, books and newspapers.
