Janine Schemmer

Biography

Janine Schemmer is a cultural anthropologist, currently working at the Department of Cultural Analysis at the University of Klagenfurt/Celovec, Austria. In her oral history practice, she is particularly interested in the affective and sensory dimension of archive materials, museum collections and exhibition spaces, and explores their emotional layers. In her research and teaching, she focusses on memory culture and contentious heritage, oral history and narrative studies, spatial processes and social relations, mobilities and transnational practices.
