Miren Llona
Biography
Miren Llona has a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of The Basque Country since 2000. Her oral history thesis about the construcEon of women’s idenEEes in the Bilbao middle-classes during the 1920s and 1930s won the Research Prize Victoria Kent from the Universidad de Málaga in 2001. Her research focuses on three areas: the construcEon of idenEEes from a naEonal, class and gender perspecEve in the Basque Country; oral history and the analysis of memory from a cultural perspecEve; and the study of the power relaEons between men and women. She founded the Oral History Archive AHOA in 2004. From 2008 to 2012 she was on the council of IOHA. She has been the chairwoman of the Women’s DocumentaEon Center Maite Albiz since 2004 and, from 2020-2022, she served as the president of the Spanish Women’s History Research AssociaEon.
