Yvonne McFadden
Biography
Yvonne McFadden is a lecturer at the University of Strathclyde where she is Co-Director of the Scottish Oral History Centre. She teaches classes on oral history, gender, social and cultural history. Her research focuses on gender, social class, work and domesticity. Dr McFadden’s recent book Memory, Mining and Heritage with Prof Arthur McIvor was an oral history of mining communities and deindustrialisation in East Ayrshire, Scotland. She is currently working on a monograph on gender, home and affluence in suburban Scotland. This paper is based on research from three workshops in partnership with a professional storyteller.
